2011 Conference Information
Dear AIHA Members and Conference Participants,
The 44th AIHA Conference in Tampa is nearly upon us. If you have not registered for the conference and booked your room at the Tampa Waterside Marriott, I urge you to do so THIS WEEK.
It is essential that our members book a promised number of rooms, for the hotel to honor our contract. I urge you further to stay over Saturday, the night of our banquet, as that is an important part of our gathering and is also essential to the success of the conference.
You can register and book your room simply and easily, by visiting

Thanks for your support and participation. I look forward to seeing you in Tampa.
Best Regards,
George Guida, President

AIHA's Statement on the Arizona Law Concerning Ethnic Studies
The American Italian Historical Association* deplores HB2281 which
restricts the teaching of ethnic studies courses in the State of Arizona's
public school system. Ethnic studies courses belong to the
education of all Americans. These courses allow students to explore
the diversity of cultures in the United States. They promote self
awareness and awareness of others. Ethnic studies courses prepare
students for the responsibilities of citizenship in the contemporary
world.

Welcome
The American Italian Historical Association is devoted to the interdisciplinary
study of the culture, history, literature, sociology, demography, folklore, and
politics of Italians in America. Founded in 1966, the AIHA sponsors a yearly
conference and has published over thirty volumes of the proceedings of the annual
conferences. Among our 400 members are the most noted professional scholarly
authorities as well as enthusiastic lay persons. While many of the members bear
Italian names, the AIHA eschews filiopietism in favor of scientific and scholarly
methods as it seeks to explore and disseminate authentic information and
interpretation of the wide ranging experiences of Italians in America.
